The U.S. Department of State, as the sponsor of the Fulbright Senior Scholar
Program, in tandem with the Institute of International Education (IIE) and
its affiliate, the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES),
administrative partners for the Senior Scholar Program, have established a
program of small institutional grants known as the Alumni Initiatives Awards.
The program provides Fulbright Senior Scholar Alumni, both Americans and
Visiting Scholars, the opportunity to develop and sustain ongoing contacts
and partnerships initiated as a result of their Fulbright experiences abroad.
Program Description:
The objective of the AIA program is to help translate the individual
Fulbright experience into long-term institutional impact. To this end, the
program provides small institutional grants to Fulbright alumni to develop
innovative projects that will foster institutionally supported linkages and
sustainable, mutually beneficial relationships between the Fulbright scholar’s
home and host institutions.
The AIA competition will be open to proposals submitted jointly by U.S. or
Visiting Scholar Fulbright alumni and their host institution partners.
Although either a U.S. or Visiting Scholar alumnus may initiate the
application process, all awards will be administered through the US
institution.
